Brief historical review

The University of Natural Sciences has evolved through a long history in close connection with the country's educational and training venture. Since its inception, the School has witnessed several transformations.


FACULTY OF SCIENCES THE UNIVERSITY OF SAIGON

Originally a division of the Indochina College of Sciences, established in Hanoi in 1942, the establishment was re-named
the Faculty of Sciences under the University of Saigon in 1956.

HO CHI MINH CITY UNIVERSITY

This institution took shape in 1977 as a merger of the Faculty of Letters and the Faculty of Sciences.


THE UNIVERSITY OF NATURAL SCIENCES

Founded in March 1996 following a split from Ho Chi Minh City University, the school has since been an affiliate to Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. It is entrusted with providing education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and undertaking scientific research as well as technological transfer.

The University of Natural Sciences was awarded a First-Order Labor ecoration in 2001 and a Third-Order Independence Decoration in 2003. Many other decorations, medals and commendations have also been conferred on the School's staff collectively or individually.

 

The University of Natural Sciences has continued to receive generous governmental grants for the fulfillment of its strategic targets in an on-going endeavour to emerge as a centre of excellence for education and basic science research within Vietnam National University_Ho Chi Minh City.
